They were typical guys next door who wanted wife, who was a girl next door, their family did not bother about her financial well being but were bothered about her nature and attitude in life.
Alas! Things did not go smooth with them. And they were victims of one sided Indian law(s). They were all from the hardworking ethical strata of society. With no criminal background of the family a normal common man and aspiring wagle’s of the nation.
Post Marriage, suddenly to their surprise they found police at their doorstep on a Friday who actually came for puch-tach (enquiry) on a (False dowry and mental torture) complain by the bahu of the family. Police landed up arresting the recently wedded innocent Angry Young Mr.Kaalia’s and his parents and siblings. They realized that they were victims of someones myopic lust for money. But decided that they will not quit.
They saw their family came crashing down as getting a bail and running helter skelter was not a part of their wishlist. These guys had certain things in common, All from the modern corporate environment either self employed or in job and an over ambitious stubborn and ambitious life partner. They individually discovered their helplessness in front of the law and they decided to do a root cause analysis. These also involved a bunch of affected NRI and their families back home.
Each one individually found out a bug in the Indian system. And it was the same bug that led to the arrests of innocent parents and siblings on false charges, a bug that created false statistics. A bug that caused blackmailing and false identification of a surpanakha as sita. This bug was a blind misuse of 498a and related packaged sections.
They reported the bug to the friends, relatives, neighbors, to the system they found being mocked at and some were even advised to accept the circumstances and bow down to the demands of the angry stubborn and control freak, misled bride.
They realized that merely reporting a bug is not working as there are babus, judges and media pretending sleep they got in to plan B and that is Fixing the bug. And rest is history. One bug led to discovery of another.
498a affected hubbies started spreading their experiences on the net and this gave rise to a new breed of pre 498a hubbies who were now knowing that they may be charged falsely, now they knew that there are people like them. They uploaded their concerns and got in to a group of 40 odd on a yahoogroup and correctly called it as saveindianfamily, exchanging of mails started. It was 4 years ago on 10th March 2005 that saveindianfamily yahoogroup got started. They grew to 100 odd and started to blog, then came meetings, helpline at Bangalore Mumbai and delhi were launched.
They started fighthing the public ignominy together and shouted JAGO INDIA, Mutual support was a new biproduct for the berated husbands. 498a started to get quashed in higher stratas of the courts, 406 misuse was discovered, the satyagrahis got aggressive in their own forms. They were once being labeled as clowns but were later contacted by the same people who got victimized. RTI came in to picture and quite a bit of damage was undone. The real statistics now was visible that was under the carpet. Supreme Courts got in to its one liners of calling the 498a misuse as “Legal Terrorism” as they discovered that 98% of the cases were arguably motivated. Media now could not ignore SIF. Husband beating was now believed, Abhagi maa’s were aired on television. Sting operations on cunning wives were taken false medical certificate rackets got busted.
The first press conference at Mumbai saw 50+ victims but not many press reporters, later media realized the fact and told the world “our side of the story”. From Koreans to Brits the international media were the first one to notice us and as usual the desi media with a lot of political correctness at times followed the suit. Then came the historic Delhi dharna and press conferences across the nation at various levels, womens wing now came of age and then came the Mens day celebrations.
SIF achieved milestones with successful withdrawal of Ads that encouraged the misuse of law, as the corporates realized the new bugs in the DV Act that we were reporting. International media’s male bashing when questioned by us with help of RTI got on back foot on authentication of the statistics on their side of the story. Media had to change its style of politically correct presentation.
Countless activists got in to bringing about this change missing out anyone would be unfair here hence I would be generic to address all.
Now we are Upholding the Crpc 41-1a amendment, we support the senior citizen bill, our fight will continue till 497, 498a and DV becomes spouse centric, DV becomes bug(S) free, 406, alimony law, joint custody etc will be made more practical. Dowry prohibition is implemented severly on the girls side too and punishment suo moto on false cases. The suicide law becomes spouse centric. Women law is not just wife centric and there is also a law for the protection of men and his relatives against cunning wife.
And we will one day see the formation of Ministry for Men. SIF, You have come a long way baby and you have a long but a way to go.
Lets us continue reporting the bugs in the Indian law and be a part of solutions too. We have done it and we will do it.
If not us then Who? If not now then when.

Awsome ! But the darn Lazy Programmer(Sarkar ) had injected it only into the Productive Crop of the Country ( I/NIT's,IIM's and alike) Society.

B'cos only the Productive Crop can handle Bugs like these its time to Rigorously Test and throw this Bug out from society so that better Releases of Indian Society can march in future using all Agile Techniques !!

Who ever made this law, went overboard, never even bothered to take a second look at the anomalies in this law, and the lawyers, babus, police took advantge and made a quick buck, now any thing that is said or written in favour of men is looked down upon by the likes of Renuka Choudhray & co.
Kudos to SIFF for creating awareness, but we have a long road ahead.

Yes, u r right, whoever hears about our case sympathizes with us and conveys to everyone ..."kya zamaana aa gaya hai ... police ye bhi dekhe bina case likh leti hai ki bahu ek din bhi sasuraal mein nahi rahi...."
So they have created a situation where everyone knows how people are falsely put into such cases and all frauds by the other party are apparent ... Infact some newspapers who published false stories in their favor are now in everyone's blacklist and people say "inka to kaam hi hai paise leke jhooth likh dena..."
